Tennessee Day 3

We went to Granny's church for Easter services this morning and then went to Uncle Doug and Aunt Char's in Rockvale for dinner. Man! That food was good! I'm thinking I'll be coming to TN for Easter next year too! Dale, Linda, and Marianna were there, Granny, your dad and me, Jeannetta and Jay and Presttyn and Dyxiekay, and Mary and her dad Buster. We had a lot of fun chatting and cutting up. We then went back to Granny's and Jennifer and Larry came over with the kids. When we got home from Uncle Doug's I walked into the living room and Peanut was surrounded by plastic wrappers and was working on opening up a peppermint. She didn't hear us come in until I said "What are you doing?" and she slinked away. Too funny. No pics today, I didn't take my camera out of the bag!

Tennessee Day 2

We got up this morning and headed to Shelbyville to get the Peugeot tags renewed. Although there were signs all over the place saying they were open on Saturdays from 8-Noon, they were closed up tight - URGH! Not happy! We had taken Granny's car so Dad could listen to her car. I had heard a weird noise when I was driving it the last time I was here, and I wanted Dad to see if he could figure out what it was. It is her front tire, but she needs all new tires. So, since the county clerk's office was closed we went back to Granny's for a couple of hours. We then headed to Murfreesboro for me to meet with that bride about her wedding in September. But, first we ate at Steak and Shake - I had the Frisco Melt - yummy as ever!

Tonight we went to the Easter production that Jennifer and Larry's church put on. It was really good - Larry was a good Roman soldier, he looked so mean! It was quite a blessing to both Dad and me.

Tennessee Day 1

Well, we left Dahlonega, Georgia about 11:00 and headed out to Bell Buckle. We had a good trip - stopped in Monteagle for lunch. We could tell we weren't in Dahlonega anymore - lunch wasn't that great.

We got to Bell Buckle about 2:30 ish. Jennifer and the kids came over shortly after and we just hung out at Granny's for the afternoon. Dale and Linda joined us for dinner and Granny had a birthday cake for Dad. He leaves on cruise on his birthday so she decided to celebrate it while he is here. There were no complaints from the rest of us :-) She fixed his favorite german chocolate cake.

About 8 o'clock my cousin Carleen and her family came to spend the night on their way down to
Orlando so that was a special treat that we got to see them. We will see them on their way back home too because they are coming through the night we get back from TX.

GA Mountain trip - Day 2

Well, we had a pretty busy day but we also spent time hanging out in the room too. We got up early to have breakfast in the lodge and it was absolutely delicious but much more than we normally eat for breakfast. There was another couple that were staying here that ate with us. They were a Christian couple and we had a really nice time chatting with them. After breakfast we headed to the falls. We had a bit of a hard time finding the road that led to the falls but once we found it the rest of the directions clicked well. We parked and started out walking what was supposed to be 1.2 miles but I'm telling you someone must have miscalculated because I'm pretty sure it was 50! All uphill! But, it was worth it, just when we thought we were going to come around a corner and find our car, we started hearing rushing water. It was beautiful and well worth the climb. I'm sure our legs will be pretty useless tomorrow though :-) The picture of dad walking up the trail is how we hiked - he fought off the bears and cougars for me. After burning off the calories from breakfast with the hike we decided we needed to refuel. We went back into Dahlonega and ate at the Crimson Moon cafe. The couple that we had breakfast with had eaten there the evening before and said it was good so we tried it out. It was good. We both had wraps, mine was a southwestern wrap which meant it was a little spicy but it was so good I ate it anyway! From there we went back up to the lodge and had a nap, well, I had a nap, Dad was on the computer. We went back into town for dinner and ate at a little Italian place. It was quite good as well, one thing this place has is some awesome food! It reminds us of our time in Charleston, SC - we didn't have a bad meal there either. Tomorrow we will get up and have breakfast and then head to Bell Buckle. Our reception on the cell phone will be a little better there. We love you guys!

Our Georgia Mountain Trip - Day 1

We were very lucky that we left Chesapeake on Tuesday night rather than waiting to leave in the morning. We never would have made it here in time to check in if we had tried to do it in one day. On Wednesday the driving was terrible. We first got stuck in a traffic jam that slowed us down by at least 30 minutes and then we had to drive through torrential rain for over an hour. I was so glad when the rain stopped, I had been driving and I was getting a bit stressed. We checked into the lodge and settled in a bit before we went into downtown Dahlonega for dinner. Jennifer and Larry had suggested a restaurant on the square called "The Corkscrew Cafe" so we went there and it was wonderful! Both Dad's and my meals were one of the best meals we had ever had - no kidding! It was a neat little restaurant that when you were in it made you feel like you were in downtown Bell Buckle. We came back to the lodge and started a fire in the fireplace and just vegged (with a little "Law and Order"). Our room is through the french doors on the bottom right.

My trip to Tennessee

I had the privilege of flying to Tennessee to see family for the past 5 days. I had a great time and got to see a lot of my family. Dale and Linda came and ate dinner with us one night and then Mom and I ate dinner with Mary at Ruby Tuesday one night. I also got to see Mary's dad, Buster, on Sunday when Mom and I went over and saw their new house (it's really nice) and picked up some James Patterson books that they are letting me borrow. I've already read through almost two of them. The Friday after I got there Jen and I took the kids to Build - a - Bear and Auntie treated them each to a Build - a - bear. They aren't bears though, Claire got a bunny she named Sally and Sam got a chick that he named Troy. Saturday Jennifer, Mom and I went dress shopping for Mom's dress to wear to Jessica's wedding. We had a great time and were quite successful and even had the time and energy to get her shoes too. Here are a few pictures from my visit. Look at the chins on that first one of Sam and Claire. Can you tell they are brother and sister? Of course we had to get some with the daffodils in LR and Moira's yard too.
